The Response, Annotated
“I have thought way too much about this indecent agglomeration of implicit and explicit accusations that you have spat in front of me here.”
The reply from nathanlesage to the QA user runs ~700 words. It contains ad hominem attacks (“juvenile arse,” “garbage can of your brain,” “mental vomit”), denies any intent to require a CS degree while describing the user as unqualified, and misrepresents the user’s position. The user’s actual post was polite, acknowledged their own limitations, and asked a genuine question about contribution policy.
Key irony: The QA user was offering to contribute a real, working feature (single-button switch) in a FOSS project. The maintainer’s response was to personally attack them in public rather than engage with the substance. The “thousands of conversations” claim — meant to justify the maintainer’s impatience — is demonstrably false by GitHub metrics.
